Here we go!

We have an insanely busy week ahead of us!
Tuesday: I'm taking my nursing boards tomorrow! Yikes!! I've done over 3,000 practice N-clex questions and have been reviewing key concepts so hopefully it will go well so I can start my new job next week! :)
Wednesday: Zac receives his MCAT scores. He took the MCAT back in April and has been patiently waiting to hear how he did!
Thursday: Kennady has eye surgery. When Kennady was a few weeks old Zac noticed a little bump right under her left eyebrow. We mentioned it to her pediatrician who said to watch it and if it gets bigger to call him. A few weeks after her 2 month check-up, the bump was noticeably bigger. We went back to the doctor and he referred us to an oculoplastic surgeon. We went to the surgeon on Friday to have the bump evaluated. He said he is 99.9% certain the mystery bump is a congenital dermoid cyst. During development, Kennady's cheekbone and forehead pinched some skin cells. The skin cells then started growing abnormally above her eyebrow. Luckily dermoid cysts are almost always benign, but the surgeon wants to remove it now before it gets any bigger. If the cyst bursts it would be really bad because the abnormally growing cells would start to grow in lots of other places and would create a huge mess which would be hard to fix. The surgery is only a 20 minute procedure. The surgeon is going to make an incision in the natural crease of her eyelid and remove the cyst. She will have a teeny, tiny scar that won't be noticeable. I'm so grateful for that. As a nurse, I know the procedure is pretty routine and everything will go well. However as a mom I am a nervous wreck! I hate the thought of her fasting before the surgery, getting an IV, getting put under with anesthesia, having her face cut, feeling pain after she wakes up from the anesthesia and having a black, swollen eye for a couple weeks. :( :( I'll be sure to post pictures and let you know how it all goes! Prayers for Kennady and for her nervous parents would be much appreciated!
